If you’re like me and in a season where it’s difficult to articulate what you had for breakfast much less your requests to a holy God, I hope this blog encourages you to pray anyway. Simple, genuine prayers are powerful. They are the outpouring of a heart that understands its deep and desperate need for Christ.
Summer is rising early to fresh morning light.
No chill when you walk outside,
Just warmth from driveway cement on your toes
And the constant summer song of
Cicadas humming, birds chirping, and
Lawnmowers running to tame that deep
Green grass, lush from afternoon showers.
I think schedules and routines are helpful for everyone, including babies, but I have to remind myself to slow down in this season.
To stop. To take her in. To remember these days. Because, as I’ve been told so many times, babies don’t keep.
From life’s first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
Live there like you will stay for the rest of your life.
Even though we haven’t perfectly heeded this advice, we have tried, and I think our time in Louisville has been so rich because of it.
Even though our hearts are pounding, backs are aching, and heads are throbbing in these seasons of life, let’s try stopping in these moments. Let’s try to take the time to reflect on what this current season of "crunch time" is teaching us.

I don’t know what the future holds, and that’s terrifying.

The most important growth I experienced in 2016 was not a result of pursuing or reaching goals. The most important growth I experienced in 2016 was a direct result of real life.
